Friday, 18th of  April  2008  | Changes + new events!
The starting time of event Nr. 9 “Ring-Demo” will be one hour later than announced. The commencement on May 22nd 2008 will be at 9 p.m. in the Evangelisch-reformierte Kirche of Leipzig. We apologize for any troubles we may have caused.

After longer preliminaries the opening-event finally has been set. We invite all interested people to a thrilling and controversial round-table talk, accompanied by music, in the Da Capo-Events Hall at Leipzig Plagwitz. Please look here for further informations .

On Wednesday, the 21st of May,  the “Wagner Festtage Leipzig 2008” offer an additional event in cooperation with the Kunstverein Leipzig and the Leipziger Hörspielsommer (Leipzig Radioplay Summer). You will find further informations here.

The Festival “Wagner Festtage Leipzig 2008” will take place from May 14th to 23rd  2008.
With presumably 10 events the festival will offer a diversified program. Specified informations about the events will be published in the midst of  February

Thursday, June 21, 2007   | Panel-discussion today on MDR FIGARO
Change of programme on MDR FIGARO : The broadcasting of the panel-discussion, planned for the 14th of July, is already performed: today in order to mark the occasion.

From 8 till 10 p.m. :How does the future of Leipzig as City of Music look like? Henri Maier probably will no longer hold office as Director of the Leipzig Opera in the next season. –FIGARO transmits a discussion about the musical future of the “City of Fairs”. The participants are Prof. Georg Christoph Biller (Thomaskantor); Prof  Andreas Schulz (Gewandhausdirektor), Peter Matzke (Musikmanager /Autor) , Prof. Joachim Herz (Opernregisseur), Henri Maier (at the moment still Director of the Leipzig Opera). The broadcasting of “Das Neue Werk” is cancelled.

Wednesday, May 23, 2007  | Wagner Festival Leipzig 2007 successfully finished
With the orchestral representation of the “Meistersinger von Nürnberg” in the Schauspielhaus Leipzig the Wagner Festtage Leipzig 2007 were brought to an effective end. With a view to nearly 3000 guests, visiting the six events, the festival can be considered as a great success.

This year´s press review as well as photos of the events will be available in the coming weeks on the website.

You are kindly asked already today to look forward  to the Wagner Festival Leipzig 2008, which will take place again at close quarters to Richard Wagner´s birthday on the 22nd of May
2008.

Monday May 14, 2007  | World premiere during the panel discussion
We succeeded in gaining Henri Maier, Director of the Oper Leipzig, as fifth guest for the panel discussion. Furthermore, the event on Sunday, 20th of May 2007 at 11 a.m. will represent a world premiere. Specially on this occasion the guitarist Torsten Pfeifer composed a solo piece related to Richard Wagner. Thus the Wagner Festtage Leipzig carry on their request of representing the legacy of Richard Wagner in a contemporary performance.
On this day the piece is represented to the public for the first time and will be recorded by the MDR (Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk).

Wednesday, May 2, 2007  | Program Modification!
Because of actual reasons the panel discussion  on the 20th of May 2007, 11 a.m., in Kaufhaus am Brühl (former Karstadt) takes place under modified theme and with other guests. Motto of the talk now will be: With the Love-Parade trough Wagner-Arkaden to the Bach-Festival – How does the future of Leipzig as City of Music look like? The presentation is conducted by Bettina Volksdorf, MDR Figaro.
Guests will be a.o. prof. Georg Christoph Biller (Thomaskantor), prof Andreas Schulz (Gewandhausdirektor), Peter Matzke (Vorstand Werk II / Musikmanager / Journalist / Autor) and prof. Joachim Herz (Opera Stage-Director)

The advanced sale of tickets for the “Meistersinger von Nürnberg” has started in all well-known ticket offices. The sale for “Wagner Jazz Lounge Lightmotiv “ probably will start on the 19th of April at the cash desk of the Museum der Bildenden Künste.

The Richard Wagner Gesellschaft Leipzig 2013 was able to enlist the well-known tenor Martin Petzold as fifth honorary member.
Martin Petzold, who was awarded the honorific title of “Kammersänger”   - chamber singer, belongs to those interpreters of Bach music who are very much asked for nowadays. His cooperation with our Richard Wagner Gesellschaft 2013 e.V. began already in 2005. During the performance of Wagner`s orchestral work "Der Fliegende Holländer" he could be heard in the role of the Helmsman.
