Saturday, 24th of May 2008  | Wagner Festtage Leipzig 2008 successfully finished
The concert “Ring-Demo”, performed on 22nd  of May 2008, Richard Wagner’s 195th birthday, and the event “Wagner-Episode X” on the last day of the Festival marked the successful finale of the “Wagner Festtage Leipzig 2008”
Nearly 6000 people, interested in Wagner’s oeuvre and life, visited the 10 events and honoured the artificial  performances with long-lasting applause and standing ovations
The Richard Wagner Gesellschaft Leipzig  2013 wants to thank all interpreters, organizers, donators and sponsors as well as all voluntary aides and the public.

Monday, 19th of May 2008  | Halftime at the Wagner Festtage Leipzig 2008
With the event “Wegen wesentlicher Teilnahme” (On behalf of essential participation )   this evening at 8 p.m   in the Kellertheater of Leipzig Opera House, the “Wagner Festtage Leipzig”  will usher in the second week of the Festival. After the controversial and enthralling opening with the panel discussion on the theme “Wagner und das Judentum” (Wagner and Jewism) the following two Great Concerts with classical and film music in the Gewandhaus were sold out. On Saturday Paul Fröhlich led hundreds of  Wagner Fans to the “Grünen Hügel” (Green Hill) of Leipzig to witness the groundbreaking for the Leipziger Festspielhaus (Leipzig Festival Hall). Subsequent to it  Fritz Lang’s film “Die Nibelungen” was shown, musically accompanied by Tobias Rank, Gunthard Stephan and Peter A. Bauer,  with the vesperline silhouette of the City in the background. On Sunday evening interested visitors were attracted by the Wagner Lounge  #2 to the Garderobenhalle of Leipzig Opera House to enjoy a witty, ingenious and interactive programme with anecdotes and arrangements about Wagner, presented by David Timm and Axel Thielmann and flavoured  by cocktails called “Rheingold” or “Götterdämmerung”.

Wednesday, 14th of May 2008 | Opening of the „“Wagner Festtage Leipzig 2008”
Today, one week before the 195th birthday of Richard Wagner, the 3rd “Wagner Festtage Leipzig” start with the presentation of “Wagner and Jewism” in the Da Capo – Eventhall in Leipzig/Plagwitz. There are still tickets offered at the box office. Wednesday, 7th of May 2008
We are very pleased to welcome as seventh honorary member of the Richard Wagner Gesellschaft Leipzig 2013 the designated Chief Director of the Leipzig Opera House, Peter Konwitschny. We very much enjoy to inspire the famous director and adept of Richard Wagner’s oeuvre for the concern of the “Wagner Festtage Leipzig”.

We wish Peter Konwitschny all be best for the season 2008/09 and the commencement of his work with the Leipzig Opera.

Friday, 18th of  April  2008  | Changes + new events!
The starting time of event Nr. 9 “Ring-Demo” will be one hour later than announced. The commencement on May 22nd 2008 will be at 9 p.m. in the Evangelisch-reformierte Kirche of Leipzig. We apologize for any troubles we may have caused.

After longer preliminaries the opening-event finally has been set. We invite all interested people to a thrilling and controversial round-table talk, accompanied by music, in the Da Capo-Events Hall at Leipzig Plagwitz. Please look here for further informations .

On Wednesday, the 21st of May,  the “Wagner Festtage Leipzig 2008” offer an additional event in cooperation with the Kunstverein Leipzig and the Leipziger Hörspielsommer (Leipzig Radioplay Summer). You will find further informations here.
